Mad cow disease was first identified in Britain in 1986. And now, it has been found in a goat!
According to the European Union, this is the first time the fatal, brain-wasting disase that has killed at least 100 people, has been diagnosed in another animal.
"A suspected case of BSE in a goat slaughtered in France in 2002 has been confirmed today by a panel of European scientists," the EU Commission said in a statement.
The EU's food safety authority EFSA said it was too early to analyze the risk from goat meat. Until then, consumers are on edge.
