We're planning on adding a whole slew of new articles to the resources currently listed at poultryOne.com. Do you have any suggestions on what topics should be covered? Post them here!

Those are fantastic ideas. We will consider them when adding new articles to the library.
Any other suggestions or comments? Thanks in advance!

Poultryone could definately use a breed index. Also articles on poultry health, diseases, and treatments would be helpful. And, maybe articles for people who like to keep chickens as pets such as taiming chicks. KChicken

Is anybody tracking this bird flu thing in Asia?? On the news they were using word like this is a sign, repeat of some pandemic after ww1, sooner or later it will get out. That it will be GLOBAL, etc....very scary stuff.
Said they had signs of it before the war but not the technology to do anything. And we are seeing the signs again etc.
That one guy said does not matter what deserted island you are on you will not be safe from it.
Can you track that sort of thing???

I don't know of any means to track it. But, it is usually carried from wild birds to domestic fowl and sometimes even mammals. Therefore, a deserted island can not protect you. A vaccine for this virus should be going into clinical trials very soon. KChicken

It would be a great idea to have something fighting cruelty against chickens such as KFC. That's been going on way to long. KChicken

Thanks for all your comments!! We depend a lot on input from you to determine what resources we should add, and what we should remove. I agree, a breed index and more health-related articles would be great additions to the top-notch resources poultryOne.com offers. Kchicken, while we do not have any specific articles on the huge amount of cruelty and abuse that occurs in factory farms (such as the ones connected to KFC and their "farm"), we do occasionally integrate little blurbs into our articles. For example, our article about chicken coops says Also, our chicken article for beginners states: I agree, the cruelty condoned and supported by companies such as KFC has gone on far enough. However, as a website we try not to sound too "animal rights-ish" and alienate our visitors. Of course, that doesn't mean we won't speak out against it, especially on these forums. As an individual, there is a lot you can do, such as writing letters to your local newspaper, etc. For more ideas, visit kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/ (that's also a good website to point people to). Strongtower - The bird flu IS a potential epidemic. The avian influenza has been modifying itself, and people are worried that soon it will be able to travel from human to human. Like AIDS, because it changes so much it is hard to create a vaccine that will be of good use for long periods of time. You can find some relevant news about the bird flu problem in the news sections of this community poultryone.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=newsWe will take all your ideas into consideration. Look for some great updates coming soon, and thanks for making us #1! = Josh

Josh, you're right about not getting too involved with animal rights. I've been to KentuckyFriedCruelty and other PETA sites and I either find their information controversial, impossible, or immensley disturbing. KChicken
