HI everybody, I want to make you'll aware of a spyware problem I encountered after visiting this site, and two others a couple of nites ago. After updating my antivirus, I forgot to turn back on my spy blocker, & went on to surf the three sites. The following morning, when I did turn on my spyware blocker, BIG SURPRISE - gobs of spyware!! Please don't take this wrong, really enjoy this site, & spyware is very hard to detect. I'm passing this message to the three sites I visited, in hopes that maybe one day notes like this won't be necessary. THANKS

Thanks for notifying us. This is the first that we've ever heard of. Are you talking about the main poultryOne.com address, or this forum? Although we have no control on the server-side of this online community, I'm almost positive that they wouldn't be hosting any spyware. However, I'll be sure to send it along to the proper folks to double check. For those of you who don't have a spyware checker like droy's, download a free one at: www.lavasoftusa.com/It's a fantastic program that will guard your computer from any malicious programs. Don't forget to also download a free firewall to protect your computer from intruders at: www.zonelabs.com/Spyware can infect your computer via email or via downloading a program on the Internet. One possible reason you found so much spyware all of a sudden is (depending on the spyware guard you're using) because it was lying dormant in your registry and activated itself when your spyware program was disabled. Once again, thank you for notifying us. = Josh

HI Josh; Just wanted to once again stress that I could have been hit while visiting any of the three sites previously mentioned. Also, I generally come straight to this forum, bypassing the main address. The doggone spyware stuff is really frustrating to me, thats why I went to a "not free" spyware blocker. Not to long ago I had no protection, & computer was probably running 1/2 speed, maybe slower. I downloaded ad-aware, then went to spybots, (both excellent, imo). Last year went to pest patrol & very happy with it. If I could just remember to turn it back on after updating anti virus Also you're right that it could have been dormant in my registry, hadn't even considered that! Maybe I was too quick to cry "WOLF !"

Droy,
Once again, thank you for notifying us about your experience. So far, no other reports have come in from other Proboards users, so it sounds like yours was, thankfully, an isolated incident. Be sure to let us know if you encounter the same problem again.
I hope you had a great Christmas!
= Josh

Bok bok, Hey droy, or anyone for that matter. George swears he did not infect this site with the XtraCrispy.32 virus. Visit our blog for details. chickenadventures.blogspot.com/ That being said, everyone should avoid Microsoft's Internet Explorer if possible. Here is what George says to do: Install Firefox www.mozilla.orgThen add the Extension AdBlock Then go here www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/ to add a good filter list to the extension. The website has the instructions on how to do this. But if you need more detailed instructions, drop us a line and George will be happy to help. We have not received any adware since we made the switch.
