Unfortunately, there are two hurricanes (and a few tropical storms) on their way to Hawaii. One of them is a Category 4 monster. According to the weather folks, it will come close to Hawaii this weekend and there is a possibility it could hit us. The stores are swamped with people buying things. I went to Wal*Mart last Saturday and there was literally no water in the entire store. The last hurricane we went through (Iniki, 1992) was to be the costliest and most powerful hurricane to ever strike the Hawaiian Islands. At that time, it was also one of the mostly costly and devastating in United States' history (although it now pales in comparison to Hurricane Katrina). www.reference.com/browse/wiki/Hurricane_InikiThe eye of Iniki passed directly over my island, Kauai, and we were hit the hardest. It's only been in the last few years that we've been able to recover the island's economy, and even now there are hotels and places here that have never been rebuilt. Please keep us in your thoughts and pray we don't get another hurricane. Quite frankly, it would be devastating (and it would throw a hitch in my weekend plans. ;D )

Well, thankfully it passed us. We're getting extremely hot and muggy weather right now due to the passing storm (today is a record breaker for the island in terms of humidity). Here's some finger crossing that we don't get any other close encounters like this!
